WAIncognito is a cool Chrome extension for WhatsApp web. One reason WhatsApp is super popular is because it lets you know when someone received and read your message. But sometimes, people don’t want others to see when they’ve read messages, so they turn off Read Receipts. That’s where WAIncognito comes in!
This extension helps you disable Read Receipts and Presence Updates. Basically, you can still see what others are doing on WhatsApp, but nobody can see your status! After you install it in Chrome, just scan the QR code to connect to your WhatsApp account. If you haven’t used the web version before, this step is a must.
Once you're set up, WAIncognito adds a nifty menu to WhatsApp. This menu lets you turn Read Receipts and Last Seen on or off whenever you want. If you've blocked receipts, unread messages will show up as transparent while the ones you've read will be highlighted in red. It’s a breeze to tell when you're in incognito mode!
Another neat feature? This extension can save deleted messages so you can get them back later if needed! Plus, there’s an option to send receipts after a specific time automatically—but don’t worry; you can cancel that anytime.
The developer has mentioned one limitation: it doesn’t work with multi-device mode. If you turn off the Last Seen feature here, then sorry—you won’t be able to see when others were last active either. This happens because WhatsApp servers don’t send Presence Updates to offline devices.
If you're mainly using WhatsApp web for chats and updates and don’t use multi-device mode often, giving WAIncognito a shot might be worth it!
