Description
USBWriter - Write Disk Images to USB Storage Units
The evolution of data distribution has shown significant signs of improvement over the years, with incredibly small devices capable of storing large amounts of data. What's more, unlike CDs or DVDs, Flash drives last longer and are more practical overall. In this regard, USBWriter gives you the possibility to write any disk image to a USB storage unit so it lasts longer.
Key Features:
- Write disk images to USB storage units
- Compact and intuitive interface
- No installation required
- Automatically detects connected devices
- Slider indicating progress
- Supports ISO format for image files
You need to have a virtual image drive of the content you want to write on a USB device before putting the process in motion, because the application strictly refers to deployment, not creating such files. Moreover, your device is automatically detected if connected before the application is launched; otherwise, you need to hit the "Refresh" button and choose from the drop-down menu.
At the press of a button, the process is put in motion, with a slider indicating progress. Take caution because all data on the drive is removed, but the application informs you before starting the process.
Important Note:
Once data is written to the drive, it becomes of little further use. The total available memory is reduced to the equivalent of the virtual image drive size, with no room to add any other files.
You need to make sure content is bootable because there is no option to forcefully enable this. Even though the application brings up its dedicated file explorer to pick the image file, supported formats are not displayed, so you need to be either lucky or cautious by creating a drive under the generic ISO format.
All things considered, USBWriter does exactly what the name suggests, but it's not quite what you'd expect if you're looking for advanced options. However, it comes in handy if you want to make a copy of your operating system installation files on a safer environment since CDs and DVDs are more fragile and can easily get damaged even by the simple passing of time.
