USB Vault is a handy software that does exactly what its name suggests – it helps you password-protect your USB flash drives. This way, only you can access the stuff inside, keeping unauthorized users at bay.
To start using USB Vault, you'll need to install it on the USB drive you want to protect. Setting up a password is super easy, but just make sure you remember it or write it down somewhere safe!
The interface of USB Vault is pretty cool and simple. It’s designed like an actual vault and comes in a small frame that you can drag around the screen with your mouse. Once you're set up, accessing your files and folders is just a matter of entering the right password.
You can change your password whenever you want or even remove the protection if you need to. However, keep in mind that USB Vault doesn’t let you choose different security levels for your files (like read-only or blocking copy/deletion). It also can’t minimize to the system tray – so it’s always visible while running.
This software runs smoothly without hogging CPU or memory, which means it won’t mess with other programs you're using. It's super responsive whether you're typing or clicking around, plus there's helpful user documentation available.
During our tests, we didn’t see any error messages pop up and the app didn’t crash at all! Everything worked as expected throughout our evaluation. The only downside? It hasn’t been updated in quite a while.
If you're looking for a straightforward way to protect your USB drive, give USB Vault a try!
