Upper Volta is a cool app that steps in where the built-in battery indicator for your MacBook falls short. While MacBooks are awesome, many of us feel like the battery info in macOS doesn’t give us all the details we need. Sure, it looks nice and simple, but sometimes we crave more specifics, right?
This is where Upper Volta shines! It adds a new layer of detail right in your menu bar, letting you see exactly what’s going on with your battery. You can customize it just how you like—choose to see your battery charge as a percentage or get an estimate of how much time you have left before it runs out.
Even cooler, when you're plugged into a power adapter, Upper Volta tells you how long it'll take to fully charge up your battery. You can switch between these display modes anytime you want. Plus, there’s a handy global shortcut that you can set up to make toggling between views super easy!
If you click on the app’s icon, you'll unlock even more features! You can keep tabs on your battery's health and its cycle count. This makes checking in on your battery's performance way easier than digging through macOS settings.
If you're ready to make Upper Volta your go-to for battery info, don’t forget to head over to the Battery preferences pane and turn off the default indicator. Otherwise, you'll end up seeing both indicators at once—which might just clutter things up!
