Underline is a handy tool that can help make your presentations stand out. Sometimes, you need to highlight text to emphasize an idea or remember important parts. You could change the color of the text, but why not try something different? Underline lets you put any text or area right under the spotlight!

How Does Underline Work?

When you run Underline, it brings up a customizable area that you can easily drag around your desktop. You can place this highlighting box over whatever you want to emphasize. It’s super simple!

Adjusting Your Highlight

You can resize the highlighting area by stretching its edges, so it only covers what you really want to focus on. The options menu gives you some customization choices too. You can set the color from a few presets and adjust how transparent the highlight is. Plus, there are movement options so you can get it just right.

Limitations of Underline

However, there are some downsides to keep in mind. The window always stays on top of other applications, and there’s no way to turn that off. Also, you can only run one instance of Underline at a time—so if you're looking to highlight different things simultaneously, you'll be out of luck!

No Hotkeys or Multiple Instances

Another thing is that hotkey support isn't available yet. This makes using it a bit less practical since you'll have to minimize it to your system tray instead of quickly switching between highlights.

The Bottom Line

The idea behind Underline is pretty cool! But honestly, its design and limited features make it feel like there’s room for improvement. If all you're looking for is a way to add some color shading on your desktop with one of those preset colors, then this app might do the trick for you.
