Typing Speedometer is a cool little widget that works with the Yahoo! Widget Engine. It’s super handy when you want to check how fast you can type. This tool is perfect for those who love being on the keyboard!
The interface of Typing Speedometer is pretty unique and user-friendly. It looks like a gauge, where you can see a needle that shows your current typing speed while you type in the special dialog box.
You can reset your count or clear text whenever you need to. Plus, you can choose how long you want to measure your speed, anywhere from 10 seconds up to 5 minutes. It even tracks your keystrokes no matter where you're typing, whether it’s in word processors or chat apps!
This nifty app has three methods for checking your typing speed: words per minute (WPM), actual words, or characters per minute. The standard mode counts every 5 keystrokes as one word, while the actual words method counts only real words.
You can keep the widget visible over other windows if needed. It also lets you ignore mouse events and stop it from being dragged around. You can even change its opacity!
This tiny app doesn’t hog your computer’s resources; it uses very little CPU and RAM. Typing Speedometer responds quickly and works smoothly without crashing or showing error messages. Plus, it gives accurate WPM readings!
Just a heads up: Typing Speedometer can't check if your spelling is spot-on! To get an accurate WPM score, make sure you're typing correctly and hit delete when needed. This way, you'll find out just how fast you're really typing.
