Twitter for Mac isn’t the first app Twitter has put out for Mac users, but it’s definitely worth chatting about! One reason is that it sports Twitter's new look, and another is that it was made using something called the Catalyst framework. This nifty tool helps developers bring iPad apps to macOS with way less hassle.
Don’t expect any big surprises with this app; it's pretty much just the Twitter experience you know from the iPad, now on your Mac. There are some tweaks here and there, but what’s cool is how well it fits into your Mac's system.
If you’re someone who tweets a lot, you've probably been on the website or used the mobile app a ton since they got their redesign. If you’ve gotten comfy with the new layout, then you’ll feel right at home with this desktop version—it looks almost exactly the same!
The Twitter for Mac app is perfect if you're looking for a native option instead of just using your browser or an iPad. But keep in mind, it doesn’t come packed with extras.
When it comes to features, there's not much to write home about since you're getting all those familiar tools but in a slightly different way. I didn’t run into any hiccups while using it; everything was easy to find and felt smooth as butter!
Sadly, there aren’t any special features just for Mac users that might come in handy. For example, I wish we could tweet straight from the menu bar—some third-party apps already do this!
The new Twitter app for Mac isn’t a letdown at all; it works well and feels super familiar if you're already a Twitter user. But honestly, having extra features like menu bar shortcuts would make me more likely to recommend it over other third-party choices.
