Tubehead

Tubehead is a cool music player app that makes it easy to jam out to your favorite tunes from YouTube. It quietly hangs out in the background while you work, so you can keep your focus on what you're doing!

Easy-to-Use Interface

The Tubehead user interface is super simple! You’ll find a status bar menulet where you can quickly search for any artist and play playlists made just for you. To kick things off, Tubehead shows you a list of popular artists and creates a playlist with 30 linked songs for each one.

Playlist Limitations

The downside? Sometimes the playlists might not have the most popular or relevant tracks, and you don’t really get to choose what’s on them. You might even stumble upon covers or parodies of your favorite songs, which could lead you to some new favorites!

YouTube Player Integration

One neat feature is that Tubehead has the YouTube player built right into its main window. This means you can easily change video quality, speed things up or slow them down, and even toggle subtitles on or off. Just remember, if you want to go full screen, it works, but the video size stays the same.

Navigating YouTube

If you're itching to see more on YouTube itself, Tubehead will pop open a new window for that! You can check out videos there and log into your account too. Just a heads up: this extra window doesn’t have close buttons, so you'll need to quit and restart Tubehead if you want to get rid of it.

Your Account Stays Logged In

The good news is that Tubehead keeps you logged into your YouTube account between sessions. Plus, if there’s a video in those auto-generated playlists that catches your eye, you can send it straight to your Watch Later list!

A Great Concept with Room for Improvement

Overall, Tubehead has an awesome idea behind it! However, some tracks in the playlists may not be exactly what you're looking for when jamming out to specific artists. While it's great for discovering new musicians, if you're just wanting to listen to your favorite artist right away, Tubehead might not be the best fit.
