Description

Truck

Truck is a super handy and simple macOS app made just for you! It helps you transfer files faster and more securely than using FTP. No complicated setups here, just smooth sailing.

Easy File Transfers with Truck

This app gives you a drag-and-drop interface that works with the rsync file copying tool. You can upload and download files through a safe encrypted SSH tunnel connection. Pretty neat, right?

Getting Started with Truck

Before you jump in, make sure your remote computer has an SSH service running in the background and that it has rsync installed. But don’t worry! If you're transferring files between macOS machines, these are usually set up by default. Just remember to enable the “Remote Login” option in your System Preferences to get the SSH server going.

User-Friendly Interface

The Truck app is designed to be straightforward and easy to use. It lets you manage the servers you want to connect to without any hassle.

Uploading and Downloading Made Simple

Once you're connected to your chosen server, uploading or downloading files is a breeze! You can either click on the Download or Upload buttons at the bottom of the server browser window, drag and drop your files onto Truck's window, or use right-click options for even more choices.

Supported Servers

You can use Truck with various services like Google Cloud, Amazon AWS, Dreamhost, or any other servers that support sync-over-SSH capabilities!

Your Login Options

When logging into a server with Truck, you have options! You can use your username and password combo or go for your private SSH RSA key when needed.

The Perfect Tool for Fast Transfers

This app is perfect if you're looking for speed and security when moving files around. Just keep in mind that while it’s great for transferring data, it doesn’t do bi-directional syncing like some legacy FTP clients do.

Resource Requirements

If you're curious about how much power Truck needs: on a Mac mini with a 2 GHz Intel Core i7 processor and 16 GB of RAM, it used about 15% of CPU and around 150 MB of RAM while transferring three video files (each about 700 MB).

Your Go-To App!

With all this info in mind, Truck is definitely the app you'll want on your Mac! It helps you ditch old FTP methods and embrace rsync for fast file transfers through secure SSH tunnels without any setup headaches. For speed benchmarks or details on its features, check out Truck's homepage.
