Tonto is a handy set of tools made for the popular Pronto line of programmable remote controls from Philips. It’s got a graphical editor that’s pretty similar to ProntoEdit, which is cool!
Now, while ProntoEdit is great, it only works on Windows. That’s where Tonto shines! It comes with a developer's library and some helpful documentation for anyone looking to expand its features or even make their own CCF files.
The main goal of Tonto isn’t just to be a better editor; it aims to offer a rich platform for programming the whole Pronto family of remotes. With Tonto, you can really get creative!
There are some exciting features in the pipeline! Tonto plans to roll out a complete CCF developer's API. Plus, there will be module support so users can add their own extensions right into the Tonto interface. How cool is that?
You’ll also be able to access an online database of IR codes and get expert tools for analyzing them. This will help you create clean codes and find discrete codes without any hassle.
Another module in development will pull TV listings from the web and automatically build and install panels into your Pronto remote. Just imagine how easy that will make things!
Tanto's CCF developer API is mostly ready, and its IR recording abilities are way better than what you find in ProntoEdit. The upload/download reliability? About the same! If you want to help out, testing and giving feedback is super important.
