TimeSnapper is a cool little software that tracks what you do on your PC. It does this by taking regular screenshots of your desktop and saving them as image files. If you ever want to look back at what you were working on, you can easily check out all those snapshots in a built-in slideshow player.
This program is super simple! There aren't any complicated settings, making it perfect for casual users. Just to be clear, though: it's not meant for spying on others since that's not its purpose.
Once you start it up, TimeSnapper puts an icon in your system tray for quick access. During recording sessions, it stays minimized there and quietly captures your screen without interrupting what you're doing.
You can choose where to save your screenshots and how often they're taken (in seconds) before starting the recording. You can also pick the image quality and file type—options include PNG, JPG, GIF, WMF, TIFF, BMP, and EMF!
With TimeSnapper, you can take pictures of all screens or just the active one. Plus, if you want a clean slate when you're done recording, you have options to delete all history or compress images into an archive. You can also set limits on how much space the snapshots use up.
The software organizes your screenshots into folders by day. When you're ready to review them after stopping a session, just load them into the slideshow player! You control how fast it plays through the images and can easily jump between days using a calendar or slider.
We ran some tests with TimeSnapper and found that it worked smoothly without causing any slowdowns or crashes on our computer. It's light on system resources too—it doesn't hog CPU or RAM while running!
In short, TimeSnapper is a handy tool for keeping tabs on your desktop activity with automatic snapshots. It's easy enough for everyone to use! Just keep in mind that right now it doesn't let you export slideshows into files like GIFs or videos.
If you're looking for more advanced features, there's also TimeSnapper Professional.
