timActionCenter is a cool app that tries to make your Windows experience better. You know how Microsoft keeps some parts of the system pretty locked down? Well, this app gives you a little more control, especially when it comes to the taskbar’s Quick Settings section.
When you install timActionCenter, it adds this neat little settings icon in the system tray. Clicking on it opens up a grid with three rows of buttons. From here, you can easily switch between light and dark themes, turn off your proxy connection, and even enable HDR on displays that support it!
This app is perfect for developers too! If you're working on an app that changes color schemes based on Windows’ theme, you can test everything right from the system tray. Plus, if you're someone who toggles proxy connections often depending on what you're browsing, this makes things super easy.
While timActionCenter works great as is, it could use some more customization options. Right now, there are six extra buttons that don’t really do anything yet. But here’s the good part: since the source code is available for free, anyone who loves coding can jump in! You can fork the project and add those useful tiles yourself.
This app has done a solid job following Microsoft’s Fluent Design guidelines. With a few updates to allow users to create their own tiles, timActionCenter could really shine as an alternative to Windows’ Quick Settings area.
