Description
Thought Train
Thought Train is a cool tool that helps you take quick notes right from your desktop. And guess what? It's pay-what-you-want until the end of April! This means that during the trial, or after it wraps up, you can choose to pay any amount (even nothing) and keep using the app forever!
Why Quick Notes Matter
Taking notes quickly on your desktop is super important. There are tons of apps out there for this purpose, and they quickly become essential for organizing daily tasks. Remember Microsoft’s Sticky Notes? It became a go-to for many when Windows 7 was around.
What Makes Thought Train Different?
Every now and then, an app comes along that does note-taking differently. Thought Train is one of those apps, so let’s check if it really delivers!
User-Friendly Design
The name says it all! Thought Train lets you jot down ideas quickly without interrupting your work. It sits in your system tray, so it's there when you need it but doesn’t clutter your screen.
Simplicity at Its Core
The interface is super minimalistic—no fancy colors or sizes to worry about. To create a note, just type in the text box at the top of the window. Then you'll get sent to a note editor that's easy to use if you're familiar with Markdown. If not, don’t sweat it; you'll catch on fast!
Markdown Madness
Thought Train promises to let you style your notes with Markdown. However, I noticed some quirks during my test—words meant to be bold showed up as italics instead! On the bright side, emojis pop up as soon as you type them in—definitely a fun feature!
Navigating Your Notes
Back in the main view, you can rearrange notes however you like, switch to Compact Mode, hide them from the menu bar (which is just hiding them from hovering over the app icon), or mark them as done. While some users might enjoy its minimal design, I found it too basic and not robust enough to be considered a must-have note-taking tool.
