Thought for the Day is a neat little widget made for computers that run the Yahoo! Widget Engine. This widget pulls up a random thought from Warhammer 40,000, a tabletop game set in a cool dystopian sci-fi universe.

Getting Started with Yahoo! Widget Engine

Even though the Yahoo! Widget Engine isn't being updated anymore, you can still grab it and get it going. Just head over to Softpedia to download and install it. Once you have it, simply double-click on the downloaded Thought for the Day file to link it with the engine's dock—easy peasy!

No Logo? No Problem!

You might notice there’s no logo for this dock widget. But don't worry! The small panel will show you quotes from the Warhammer 40K universe. Just make sure your internet connection is working since it needs to be online to fetch those quotes.

You’ll find some pretty intense quotes like:

If you want to see a different quote, just click the button on the frame! If a quote is too long, don’t worry—it’ll scroll across from right to left so you can read every word.

Tweaking Your Widget Preferences

The widget is pretty customizable too! You can change its skin color among options like blue, aqua, graphite, indigo, ruby, or sage from obsidian. Plus, thanks to some built-in features in Yahoo! Widget Engine, you can adjust how it behaves—like keeping it on top of other windows or changing its transparency levels. You can even set it up so that it ignores mouse clicks if you want!
