The VerFier

The VerFier is a cool tool that helps you sign your shared files. It ensures that the files you're getting are the real deal and haven't been messed with. This is super important when you need to share things like certificates, videos, audio files, or any important documents that need to stay safe and secure.

Getting Started with The VerFier

When you first open The VerFier, it'll ask you to create an account. You can choose whether you want your profile to be public or private. If it's public, people can find you online!

Create Your Profile

You'll get to pick a profile picture and fill in some basic info like your name, contact details, and address. That's all you need to start using The VerFier. After that, you'll create a decryption password or import a decryption key—this helps keep your account secure.

Your Profile Stays Put

Just a heads up: once you've set up your profile, you can't change or delete it because it's stored on something called immutable storage. But if you're not keen on being searchable, you can ask for your ID to be removed from searches.

Your Unique ID

The VerFier automatically gives you an ID which shows up in the main window when you're logged in—along with your name and address. Pretty handy!

Signing Files Made Easy

You can easily sign any file type using The VerFier. Whether it's documents or multimedia files, just use the digital identity you've set up. It's best practice to sign and share a copy of the file instead of the original so nothing gets lost if there's an issue.

Check File Integrity Instantly

If someone sends you a signed file, checking its integrity is super simple! Just drag and drop the file into The VerFier, or browse for it. Then enter the signer's ID and click a button—the app will check if everything's good! If there's no tampering, half of the main window lights up green!

No Uploads Required!

One great thing about The VerFier is that it doesn't upload any files to its servers; everything happens right on your local machine. While this sounds great overall, some users feel it's a bit tricky due to the lack of clear instructions on how everything works.
