TextBar is a handy little tool for macOS that lets you put custom text right in your status bar. Plus, it can run scripts to show you important info. While it comes with some predefined scripts, adding your own is super easy!
Once you launch TextBar, you'll see new menulets pop up in your status bar. This makes it a breeze to copy any information displayed there straight to your clipboard. Want to tweak things a bit? Just open the Preferences window where you can change which menulets are visible or how they act.
TextBar isn’t just about showing info; you can also adjust how often it refreshes the data. It even sends notification messages when something changes! And if you're not into the default icons, no worries—TextBar has a great collection of icons from icons8.com, so you can pick one that fits your style.
The Preferences window lets you set up as many scripts or commands as you'd like and keep them active whenever you need them. You can also hide them if they’re not in use. Rearranging their order in the status bar is simple too; just drag and drop them in the Preferences window!
If you're curious about what others have created, there's a link at the bottom of the Preferences window that takes you to the TextBar Recipes project. Here, you'll find tons of custom commands and downloadable scripts perfect for your Mac.
Setting up TextBar is pretty straightforward! You can either copy commands or download scripts from the Recipes page. If you're tech-savvy, feel free to create commands that fit your unique workflow perfectly.
