TechRadar Gadget is a neat little desktop tool designed for Windows Vista and 7. It’s perfect for anyone who loves staying updated with the latest tech news from TechRadar.com! You can read both summaries and full articles right from the gadget, so you don’t even need to open a web browser.
This gadget automatically syncs with TechRadar when you start it up. It shows the latest four news stories in a list, along with their names and publish dates. If you want more, you can easily switch it to show six, eight, or even ten stories per page! And if you’re curious about something else, just flip through the remaining pages until something catches your eye.
When you click on an article, it pops up with a summary. But heads up—it might be a bit tricky since you'll have to scroll both horizontally and vertically to see everything and check out any pictures. But there’s good news! You can ask the TechRadar Gadget to show the whole article in a larger window that looks like a simple web browser. It even has a search tool!
If you want to dive deeper into an article, there’s a popout button on the upper-left corner. Clicking that will launch your default web browser straight to the article’s page. How cool is that?
The gadget keeps things fresh by updating its RSS feed every 5 to 60 minutes—so you're always in the loop! Plus, it can auto-scroll through the feed at intervals from 10 seconds up to 20 minutes. You also have control over whether you want searches for websites or product reviews and can disable search history if you share your PC with others.
During our testing, TechRadar Gadget ran smoothly without slowing down our system or causing any crashes. It barely used any system resources too!
