Description
There's no shortage of free and open-source apps for task management.
Tasks is a prime example of such an application, a free and open-source task management application for Linux. More to the point, it's a new task management app built primarily with the COSMIC desktop in mind (for those who don't know, COSMIC is the default DE for Pop!_OS).
At heart, Tasks is a straightforward app that's aimed at users who don't require extensive or advanced features from their task management app.
The way the app works is as follows: you can have as many "lists" as you want, and you can add any number of tasks within those lists. There are a few organization options present. For instance, the app provides simple ways to organize tasks based on importance and due dates.
You can also add notes and sub-tasks to your tasks. Other noteworthy features include extensive emoji integration and decent keyboard shortcut support.
Even though Tasks is built primarily for the COSMIC desktop, I have found that it works nicely on GNOME as well. I especially appreciate the good performance and responsiveness making the app feel like a native app.
The app's looks can be subjective. You either love the whole COSMIC design philosophy with matte colors and round edges, or you don't. The bottom line, the app is not what one might call remarkable in terms of looks, but I do enjoy the clean design and overall simplicity.
To conclude, Tasks is a WYSIWYG task management app that should come in handy if your daily work revolves around simple tasks. I would have loved a bit more options when it comes to customization (including the GUI), but all in all, it's a decent little app that does exactly what it says on the tin.
