Taskbar for Mac is a cool app that brings the familiar Windows taskbar experience to Mac users. It's kind of like having the best of both worlds! While some folks might argue whether the Windows taskbar or the macOS Dock is better, there are definitely moments when one shines over the other. What Does Taskbar Do?

Easy Setup Process

The setup is straightforward but does ask for several permissions upfront. Once you're set up, you'll see that it automatically hides your Dock when you activate the Taskbar and replaces it with its interface.

Familiar Functionality

If you're used to how things work in Windows, you'll feel right at home here! You can drag and drop apps to rearrange them just like before. You can even pin favorite apps and view thumbnails of windows hovering over them. Clicking on items lets you minimize and restore windows quickly.

Switching Between Apps Made Simple

Another neat feature is that each application window appears as a separate item on the taskbar. This makes switching between open apps much easier! And if you've got multiple desktops (or Spaces), this app supports that too. Want to keep certain apps off your taskbar? No problem! Just blacklist them.

A Few Limitations

One thing I've noticed is that unlike in the Dock, you can't drag files directly onto taskbar icons for quick access or processing. A bit of a bummer, but hopefully something they'll improve in future updates!

Looks and Customization Options

When it comes to looks, right now, you can only control how wide each item on the taskbar can be and center them as well. Unfortunately, there's no way yet to change its size or transparency or hide labels like you'd want.

The Bottom Line

The Taskbar for Mac shows real potential—especially if you've never been a fan of the Dock or are coming from a Windows background. It works well currently but could really use some extra features down the line for better customization options!
