Description

Sysfunc

Sysfunc is a cool open-source tool that runs in the command line. It's like a handy toolbox for UNIX/Linux sysadmins, packed with shell functions to make system admin tasks easier. Plus, it works perfectly with both Bash and KSH (Korn Shell) shells.

Key Features of Sysfunc

This software has some awesome features! You can copy files, delete files and folders, manage symbolic links, and handle user and group management. It also lets you replace lines or data blocks in files, comment or uncomment lines, create logical volumes and filesystems, and even manage services!

Compatibility Across Platforms

Right now, the sysfunc shell library has been tested on major GNU/Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, Debian, Slackware, Arch Linux, and openSUSE. It also works with various BSD flavors along with Solaris, AIX, and HP-UX operating systems. The great part? It's built to support any Unix/Linux system right from the start!

How to Get Started with Sysfunc

If you want to try it out, you'll first need to download the source archive, which uses gz compression. After downloading it, just extract it somewhere in your Home directory.

Next up! Open up your terminal emulator (if you're using a graphical desktop) and run the make command to compile everything. Once that's done, type make install as root to get the library set up in your /opt directory.

Using Sysfunc Commands

To get going with sysfunc, head over to the /opt/sysfunc directory and run sh sysfunc.sh as root. You'll find a bunch of default commands like ask, banner, cfg_check, chmod, chown...and so many more that can help you manage your system efficiently!

A Special Note for Red Hat Users

The sysfunc project was specifically built for Red Hat Enterprise Linux too! You can download RPM packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux versions 4 through 6.
