Subsurface is an awesome open-source diving log app that lets you track all your dives, whether you’re using a single tank or going all out with multi-tank setups. It supports air, TriMix, and Nitrox dives!

Who Created Subsurface?

The cool part? This program was made by Linus Torvalds, the guy behind the Linux kernel! He built Subsurface because he was fed up with the lack of good dive log apps for Linux. Now, thousands of people use it on their open-source systems!

Dive Logging Made Easy

This software is designed from scratch to help you log every detail of your diving experience. You can keep track of things like exposure times, weights used, dive buddies, and dive masters. Plus, you can rate your dives and add personal notes to remember each adventure.

GPS Support for Tracking Dives

Another neat feature is the built-in GPS support! It helps you track where you've dived. When you're adding a new dive note, you'll input everything from start time and air temperature to location coordinates and visibility. You can even tag dives for easy searching later!

Detailed Equipment Logging

You can also add detailed info about your gear like cylinder types, sizes, working pressure, start pressure, end pressure, oxygen levels, and helium content! The Stats tab shows all kinds of cool stats like depth, duration of the dive, temperature changes during your adventure—all really helpful stuff!

Dive Info at Your Fingertips

The Dive Info tab gives you a quick summary of any selected dive. You’ll see dates, gases used and consumed during the dive, max and average depths reached, air pressure readings—basically everything you'd want to know about your underwater adventures.

If you're curious about how it looks under the hood: Subsurface uses the Qt GUI toolkit for its interface. This means it works well on Linux as well as Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X systems.
