STL Import for Inventor is a super handy add-in that lets you import Stereolithography (.stl) files right into Inventor. With this tool, you can easily bring in polygon data from Binary STL files.
This software reads the polygon mesh data stored in your STL files and imports it directly into Inventor. Each STL file contains a bunch of triangular faces that make up the mesh. When you use STL Import for Inventor, it creates trimmed planar surfaces for each triangle or quad, and then knits them together to form a solid body. If your polygon mesh is closed (meaning it doesn’t have any boundary edges), it’ll create a closed body feature. If not, you’ll get an open surface instead.
One of the coolest things about STL Import for Inventor is how easy it is to use! After installation, it automatically loads into Inventor and adds a new submenu called “STLImport” to the main menu.
The ‘STLImport’ submenu includes several handy commands:
You won’t be left hanging either! STL Import for Inventor comes with detailed documentation on all commands plus a tutorial to help you get started quickly. So if you're looking to download this great tool, check out this link: Download here!
