Stepper Motor is a cool program that lets you see how unipolar and bipolar stepper motors work. You can check out some neat demos of things like translators, oscillators, and indexers too!
In this program, you get to play around with switches. By clicking them, you can open or close the circuits. This controls the current flowing through the motor’s windings. If you click the switches in the right order, guess what? The rotor starts to rotate!
Now, when a stepping motor needs to get to a specific position, it uses something called an indexer. An indexer creates just the right amount of pulses needed for movement. Plus, it takes care of ramping automatically! These simple indexers are pretty rare these days.
Next up is the "Motion Controller." Think of this as a fancy indexer. It can go to multiple positions and even respond to inputs while turning outputs on and off. You can set how far it moves by using BCD switches.
The program has three additional screens: one for the Bipolar Stepper Motor, another for the Translator, and one more for the Oscillator. I won’t overload your internet with all that info here! But if you’re curious about seeing everything, you can download the program here.
