Stata Language Module is a super handy free tool for both TextWrangler and BBEdit. It gives coders syntax coloring support for lots of Stata keywords, including functions and options, plus it helps with block and inline comments. Pretty cool, right?

How to Install on TextWrangler

If you're using TextWrangler, installing the Stata Language Module is easy! Just copy the file to this location:

• username/Library/Application Support/TextWrangler/Language Modules

That’s it! You’re all set up.

How to Install on BBEdit

If you’re using BBEdit, you’ll need to do a little extra step. First, create a folder called:

• ~/Library/Application Support/BBEdit/Language Modules

This folder doesn’t get made automatically after installation. Once that’s done, just copy the Stata.plist file into that folder. Easy peasy!

Troubleshooting Download Issues

NOTE: If your download isn't working or if your browser opens the linked plist file as plain text, don’t worry! Just right-click the download link and choose either:

• "Save link as" in Firefox


• "Download linked file as" in Safari
