StarWind Encrypted Disk is all about keeping your data safe and sound. So, what does that mean? Well, it takes information that's easy to read and scrambles it up so only the right people can read it again. This process is called encryption. It uses special algorithms and a unique key to make sure that only those who have permission can access the data.
The cool thing about encryption is that once your info is scrambled, it's sent over the network securely. Only apps or processes that know how to decrypt the information—thanks to their special keys—can turn it back into readable format.
When you use StarWind Encrypted Disk, you can create image files that can also be encrypted before sending them off to an iSCSI Target. This extra layer of encryption boosts security and keeps unwanted eyes away from your sensitive information.
In this setup, the StarPort iSCSI Initiator acts as an iSCSI Target. It’s responsible for encrypting and exporting data using strong 256-bit AES encryption. This means any data shared over the network is way more secure compared to older methods like IPSec (Internet Protocol Security).
