Description

If you've lived on this planet, let's say, more than 10 years, there's a very good chance you've at least heard of Pokémon. Pokémon is without a doubt one of the most successful franchises and brands of all time.

There are tons of reasons why Pokémon is such a big name, but mostly because it encourages a strong emotional attachment and unique bonding experience to some very interesting and powerful virtual creatures.

If you're passionate about Pokémon, you already know what a Pokédex is - the most invaluable tool for those amazing Pokémon trainers. If you're also a Linux user, then you can have your very own Pokédex on your computer's desktop by checking out Starrydex.

Starrydex is a free and open-source Pokédex app. It provides a full list of Pokémon, as well as a quick way to find them.

The app provides basic information about each and every Pokémon directly on your desktop. In short, Starrydex is a simple Pokédex app.

Here are a few interesting things you should know before using this app. For starters, it's mainly built for the COSMIC desktop (the default desktop environment for the Pop!_OS Linux distribution.

Even though the app is designed to work offline, it's important to note that Internet access is required for the initial setup phase. This is because the app uses the PokeAPI to provide users with all the Pokémon-related resources.

Another thing to be aware of is the potential visual bugs that might appear on other DEs. The developer of the app does recommend the installation of libcosmic, but as far as Ubuntu and GNOME are concerned, it seems to be working just fine.
