Spline

Spline is a cool 3D modeling and animation software that's perfect for the web. It’s designed to give you easy-to-use tools to create and publish awesome 3D projects, along with UX/UI designs. Whether you're just starting or have some experience, Spline makes it simple to jump in and start creating.

Getting Started with Spline

To use Spline, you'll first need to set up an online account. It starts in Free mode, but if you want more features, there's a Pro subscription that opens up even more options (we'll chat about that soon!).

Create Your First Project

When you're ready to kick off a new project, just click the “+” icon and pick “New File” from the “My Files” tab. Once your scene loads up, you can easily rotate the camera by pressing ALT and dragging around.

A Treasure Trove of 3D Content

One of the best parts about Spline is its access to a huge library of 3D content (you can expand this with the Pro plan). This means you won’t have to start from scratch every time, whether you’re making simple 2D scenes or complex animated ones.

User-Friendly Layout

The layout of Spline is pretty intuitive. At the top, there’s a tab bar followed by a mini-toolbar right below it. You’ll find two sidebars flanking your viewport: one on the left shows scene layers and objects while the right sidebar lets you tweak properties for your scene and selected items.

Working with Objects Made Easy

Spline makes working with both 2D and 3D objects super easy! You can take 2D shapes and extrude them into 3D forms, play around with parametric objects or text, plus create animations and interactive elements.

Customizing Your Scenes

You can get creative by adding material layers like color, lighting effects, textures, noise settings, normals, and fresnel layers. Plus, you can work with different types of lighting—directional, point lights—and adjust camera settings too! When you're done designing your scenes in Spline, it lets you export them as public URLs or images. You can even save them as videos or GIFs!

Plans and Features

The Free plan gives you basic access to the Spline Library along with features like generating public URLs or embed codes. If you go for the Pro plan? You’ll get everything from Free plus extra UI themes, video exports in MP4/WebM formats without any logos on public URLs—pretty neat!

A Great Tool for Everyone

Spline is perfect for beginners who want to learn about 3D modeling while still offering plenty for advanced users too! Given that it's still in its early Alpha stage right now, we expect it will keep getting better as updates roll out.
