Description

spColumn

spColumn is a handy software tool made just for structural engineers who need to analyze and compare designs that involve multiple columns. It’s pretty cool because it supports all sorts of column shapes, including those irregular ones and reinforced concrete columns.

Features of spColumn

You can export your projects in different ways, like Factored or Nominal Interaction Diagrams and even 3D Failure Surfaces! Plus, it lets you export column sections as AutoCAD drawings (.dxf format) or create graphical reports as images (.emf format). So whether you're looking for detailed visuals or easy-to-read diagrams, this software has got you covered!

User-Friendly Interface

The interface might look a bit old-fashioned, but don't let that fool you! It’s well-organized which makes it super easy to input data, view your models, and make any changes you need. When you start a new project, you can fill out key details like the project name, type of column, and even the measurement units.

Customizing Your Design

You have the flexibility to choose the design code you want to use—like ACI 318-11 or CSA A23.3-04—and decide if you want to consider slenderness in your calculations. You can also edit material properties for both concrete and reinforcing steel columns. Want a rectangular shape? Or something circular or irregular? No problem! You can make all sides equal or mix them up however you'd like.

Advanced Options

This software doesn’t skimp on options either. You can include nominal diagrams in your designs, show or hide load point labels and splice lines, plus tweak startup parameters like data directories and measurement units. Talk about customization!

Performance Review

In our tests, we didn’t run into any stability problems. spColumn ran smoothly without hanging up or crashing on us. It’s light on system resources too—so it won’t slow down your machine while you're working away on those designs!

A Powerful Tool for Engineers

Even though it hasn't been updated in a while (you can tell by its interface), spColumn packs some powerful features for designing and examining structural projects with multiple columns. If you're looking for reliable software that gets the job done right without fussing over fancy looks, this might be just what you need!
