If you run often out of the disk space then Spatiu is going to help you fix this problem. Features include fast and easy to use. As soon as you spot a file or folder too big and that you don't want to keep, just press DEL and it's gone.
Rescanning the current folder (that can be slow if it is the root folder) is triggered explicitly by pressing F5. Subfolders open in a new window for the same reason - speed, speed, speed.
