What is Snare for Windows?

Snare is a super handy Windows service that lets you check out EventLog details from anywhere and in real time! It’s great for keeping an eye on important logs like Application, System, and Security. Plus, if you have any secondary logs like DNS, Active Directory, or File Replication, Snare can monitor those too.

Easy Installation and Setup

When you install Snare, it can take charge of your EventLog settings right away. This means it can change any current audit settings if you want. You can either use the system account or put in different credentials for the service. And guess what? You can even enable web access with or without a password!

Accessing Your Logs

After you’ve got everything set up, accessing Snare is a breeze. Just hop onto your web browser and log in with the credentials you set earlier. Once inside, you’ll see all the current events happening on your PC. It shows details like when processes were created or exited, along with extra info such as date, system name, event count and ID, source, user name, and audit status.

Network Configuration Options

Snare gives you lots of options to tweak your network setup too. You can change things like where the Snare server is located (address and port number), how much event log cache size you need, whether to use UDP or TCP for data transfer, plus message encryption options! It also allows for automatic tasks such as setting audit configurations and exporting data to files.

Remote Control Features

If remote control is your thing, Snare has got that covered too! You can limit the Snare agent to specific hosts by setting an allowed IP address for remote control. There’s even a password feature to keep things secure when removing it. Plus, you can establish the web server port number easily.

Smooth Performance

During our tests with Snare, we didn’t run into any error messages or crashes at all! The app was super responsive and used very little CPU and RAM. So no worries about it slowing down your computer! In short, Snare offers experienced users a fast and simple way to view EventLog information from afar.
