Description
Your MacBook is designed to optimize battery life by going into sleep mode when idle, but there are lots of third-party apps and even system processes that can wake the device or prevent it from going to sleep.
Sleep Aid Tracker is a trimmed-down version of Sleep Aid, an app designed to monitor how much of your Mac’s idle time is actually spent in sleep mode. It doesn’t identify processes that keep your Mac awake, but it provides a seven-day overview and times wake periods during sleep mode.
The app works by monitoring your device’s usage and identifying when it should be asleep (the screen is off and there is no sound being played), and how much of that time is really spent in sleep mode. There are various processes that can cause this, and it’s difficult to tell when the device is actually awake.
This data is logged and displayed in the main window for the last seven days. You can see what percentage of each sleep period was truly spent in sleep mode, and you also get visual indicators for these percentages over the past week. If needed, the app has a function for preventing idle sleep.
