Now, let’s talk about the interface. It’s not going to win any beauty contests, but it gets the job done! The folder view is pretty straightforward. Still, navigating through directories can be a bit annoying sometimes.

How It Works

Using Shredder is simple: just pick a file and hit that Shred button! There are two main options available: one for standard deletion (like emptying the Recycle Bin) which leaves files vulnerable to recovery methods, and another for erasing items completely. This second option wipes out contents but keeps the file structure intact—so if you try to open an “erased” file, you'll see an error message saying “Unable to access file.” Plus, there's an option to remove duplicate entries from your list!

Limitations

A little heads-up though: while Shredder can delete multiple files at once, you'll have to select each one individually because there’s no “select all” feature. And sadly, it can't shred entire directories either.

Performance Insights

This tool is light on resources; it hardly uses up CPU or memory so your system stays speedy! It responds quickly and clears out files fast. However, during our tests, we did encounter an error that made Shredder crash after deleting a JPG file (but hey, the deletion worked!). Just keep in mind that this app hasn’t seen updates in quite some time.
