Shortcut Cleaner is a neat little tool that can help you tidy up your computer. If you’ve been deleting or moving files around, you might end up with broken shortcuts cluttering your system. Even though these shortcuts are small, they can really pile up and take up space over time.
As the name hints, Shortcut Cleaner is made to spot those pesky broken shortcuts and remove them without messing with your registry keys. It’s super handy!
The setup is pretty straightforward and doesn’t need much from you. The interface works like a wizard that walks you through everything step-by-step, making it easy for anyone to use—whether you’re a newbie or more experienced. Each step gives you helpful info so you can easily clean up your Start Menu.
You start by picking the user from a drop-down menu. The developer recommends making a backup of your current settings just in case anything goes wrong. After a quick scan, you'll see a list of broken shortcuts the app found. You can then choose which ones to remove! Plus, if there are folders with no shortcuts or just one, you can delete those too or ignore them.
This program mainly focuses on cleaning your Start Menu. It would be awesome if it could scan the whole system for broken shortcuts everywhere else! But for now, it does a great job at what it’s designed for.
If it’s been ages since you've cleaned up your PC and you're seeing non-working or corrupted items in your Start Menu, consider giving Shortcut Cleaner a shot!
