Description

SegDSee

SegDSee is a lightweight app designed for seismologists. It helps you check out headers and seismic data in SEG-D and SEG-B files. It’s pretty handy if you need to analyze seismic data!

Modern Interface

This software features a clean, modern user interface that's easy to navigate. You’ll find everything you need right at your fingertips thanks to its tabbed layout. But here’s the catch: there’s no documentation or sample data files included, which can make it a bit tricky for new users.

File Support

SegDSee supports single shot file and Lacey Tape on Disk (LTOD) encapsulation. It opens various file formats like SEG-D 80XX, 0015, and Standard SEG-B. You just pick your preferred directory and the app will show all the compatible files it finds there, including their names, FFIDs, and types.

User-Friendly Navigation

The main window has two tabs: one for managing headers and another for channel sets. You can easily change how the information looks by scrolling with your mouse wheel or manually setting traces and time values. Want to see all channel sets or just a few? No problem! You can choose between wiggle, gray, or color display modes.

Customizable Features

With SegDSee, you have options! You can decide whether to use the band pass filter and choose between automatic gain control (AGC) or normalization. Plus, you can set the window length based on your needs.

A Specialized Tool for Experts

This app is mainly aimed at scientists who want to view and analyze seismic data. However, it could really benefit from some documentation because it might be a bit challenging for those who are less experienced with these kinds of tools.

No Sample Files Available

Another downside is that SegDSee doesn’t come with any sample files. This means if you don’t already have access to seismic data sources, testing out the app could be tough.

A Useful Application Overall

To wrap it up, SegDSee is definitely useful for experts in seismology who need to analyze seismic data stored in SEG-D and SEG-B formats. Just remember that without documentation or sample files, it may not be as user-friendly for beginners looking to get started in this field!
