Description
If you want to be more secure with your logins, there’s no better way to do so than with a password manager. Everything in there is encrypted and only those who have the master key are permitted, which means your account database is inaccessible to anyone but you.
Besides that, as most tools integrate a generator of some sort, you can use more complex passwords that you won’t need to remember — that’s what the manager is for. Secure Password Manager is a clear-cut name for a clear-cut program, taking a decidedly simple approach that can prove to be effective.
This password manager takes a bit of a different approach compared to other mainstream offerings. The initial set-up is standard, as you have to decide on a master password and recovery question, but make sure to jot them down somewhere, because those are the keys to your vault.
After that, you’ll be able to start adding your logins and use the program normally. Only, the different thing is that you don’t have to fill the fields you usually do on other manager apps: you enter a name for the password, then click the Generate and Store button.
Generate and Store will automatically generate a complex password and assign it the name you just set. This makes the name just as important as the password, because you’ll have to type it in for the program to display your password.
A problem some users may experience has to do with the lack of a vault overview, where you would be able to see the accounts you’ve added throughout your use. As this is still early in its release cycle, it’s probable such a feature will be implemented sooner or later.
Secure Password Manager certainly does things a bit differently than most other password managers. Whether for better or worse, that’s up to each user to decide, but I think the addition of a vault overview would greatly benefit the software going forward.
