Seagull Traffic Generator
Seagull is a cool multi-protocol traffic generator tool. It's mainly designed for IMS protocols, making it a great buddy for SIPp when you're testing IMS. This powerful tool can handle all sorts of tests like functional, load, endurance, stress, and performance for nearly any protocol you can think of!
Easy Protocol Support
One of the best things about Seagull is how open it is. You can add support for a brand-new protocol in under two hours—no programming experience needed! Seagull comes with several protocol families already included in its source code:
- Binary/TLV (Diameter and many 3GPP and IETF protocols)
- External library (TCAP, SCTP)
- Text (XCAP, HTTP)
Compiling Seagull from Source
If you want to compile Seagull from the source code, here's how to do it:
- Edit build.conf to fit your needs (the default settings usually work fine).
- Run
".\/build.ksh -target clean". - Run
".\/build.ksh -target all". - The Seagull binaries will be in the bin/ directory—just copy them all into /usr/local/bin/.
- Add /usr/local/bin to your PATH environment variable (for example: export "PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/bin").
- The execution environments are located in exe-env/XXX-env/, where XXX is the specific protocol you're using.
