Description
ScreenShot PSD
ScreenShot PSD is a super simple app for Mac OS X that lets you take screenshots and saves them in PSD format. What’s cool about this is that every little thing on your screen gets its own layer! So, you can easily edit the image using any graphic tool that works with layers. How neat is that?
Easy Access from the Status Bar
This app hangs out in your status bar, which means it’s not in your way but still right there when you need it. Plus, it has a handy keyboard shortcut to capture images: just press Shift + Command + 5. Easy peasy!
Full Screen Only
Now, here’s a little heads-up: with ScreenShot PSD, you can only grab the whole screen at once. There’s also a “Timed Screenshot” feature, but you can’t set how long the delay is.
Simple Customization Options
This app doesn’t come with a ton of settings to customize. You can change where the screenshots go and whether or not you want to open the PSD file right after taking the screenshot. But overall, using ScreenShot PSD is pretty straightforward!
Layered Screenshots Made Easy
A big plus is that ScreenShot PSD automatically creates a separate layer for each window on your desktop. It even makes layers for things like the Dock, Cursor, Menubar, and more! You can capture stuff from Launchpad, Notification Center, Spaces, Expose, or Mission Control without any hassle.
Works with Shadows and Dual Displays
This app handles windows with shadows really well and works smoothly with transparency too. Plus, if you're using Retina or HiDPI modes or even dual displays? No problem! It manages all of those like a champ.
The Bottom Line
If you need to make layered screenshots that are easy to edit later on in any graphic tool, ScreenShot PSD could be just what you're looking for. Just remember that it doesn't have many customization options and only captures full screens.
