Description

Screen Lock

Screen Lock is a tool that’s meant to help keep your computer safe when you’re not around. You know how it is—leaving your computer alone at work or home can be tempting for anyone nearby. Windows lets you lock your PC, but if that doesn’t suit your style, you might want to check out alternatives like Screen Lock.

Installation and Compatibility Issues

Now, here’s the catch: this application hasn’t seen updates in a while. This could lead to some compatibility issues right from the installation phase. If you run into problems, try using compatibility settings when setting it up. Also, heads up! Once you finish installing it, Screen Lock will restart your computer without giving you a heads-up. Make sure to save everything before that happens!

Screen Resolution Tips

If you really want to get the most out of what this app does, it’s recommended to switch your screen resolution to 1024x768. But honestly, we don’t suggest doing that at all! When it runs, part of your screen shows the classic Windows XP wallpaper along with the taskbar image and there’s a password text field with a Submit button.

User Experience and Functionality

You might feel a little confused at first because Screen Lock only takes up a small part of your screen. You can still use your computer normally except for the upper left corner where the lock screen hangs out. The default security key is set to Password, but there aren’t any initial options for configuring anything else.

Password Management Limitations

Once you manage to unlock the screen, a prompt pops up asking if you want to keep the same password or change it. That’s pretty much all the management options available—there’s nothing else! Plus, practicality seems low since anyone can easily bypass this lock screen if their resolution is set higher.

A Mixed Bag Overall

If we’re judging Screen Lock solely on looks? It feels like it's still in development! And when you dig into its functionality? It quickly becomes clear that it needs more time under wraps before being ready for prime time. From an annoying installer experience all the way through its lackluster features—it can be quite disappointing.
