SaveInfo is a handy tool that helps you keep your computer safe from pesky boot sector viruses. It works by saving important parts of your hard drive, like the Master Boot Record (MBR), the first two tracks, and the last track of each partition. Plus, it saves the last track of the whole physical drive! This way, if anything goes wrong, you have backups to restore from.
You'll want to run SaveInfo from a bootable diskette in your A: drive. Make sure you have that set up so everything goes smoothly!
When using SaveInfo, there are some commands you can use:
The default filename for saving is A:\\saveinfo.sav.
If you want to save a partition, you can run:
Saveinfo -s
If you need to restore one, try:
Saveinfo -r -i
