Sally is a super simple and user-friendly tool that’s open source! It helps you map a bunch of strings to vectors. Sounds cool, right? This process is called embedding, and it lets you use machine learning and data mining to analyze string data.
So, what can Sally actually do? Well, it works with all sorts of string data. Whether you're dealing with text documents, DNA sequences, or log files, Sally's got your back! It can handle common formats like directories, archives, and plain text files full of strings.
Sally uses a standard method to map those strings into something called vector space. You might hear this referred to as the vector space model or the bag-of-words model. Basically, each string gets described by a set of features—think of these features as dimensions in that vector space!
The cool thing about Sally is the variety of features it supports! You can work with bytes, words, n-grams of bytes, and n-grams of words. This flexibility makes it perfect for different types of analysis.
