RightField is a free, open-source, cross-platform application for adding ontology term selection to Excel spreadsheets.
You will be able to assign to each annotation field a range of allowed terms from a chosen ontology (individuals, subclasses, or combinations).
Simply put, RightField is an independent Java application that uses Apache-POI for interacting with Microsoft documents.
RightField allows you to import Excel spreadsheets and either import ontologies from their local file systems, or from the BioPortal ontology repository.
Individual cells, or whole columns or rows can be marked with the required ranges of ontology terms and an individual spreadsheet can be annotated with terms from multiple ontologies.

RightField is cross-platform and it works on Mac OS X, Windows and Linux. Binaries for the Windows and Linux platforms are available on the project's homepage.
