What is Reg2Run?
Reg2Run
Reg2Run is a seemingly simple, yet practical application for hardcore PC users who prefer launching programs from the Run dialog by just entering one line of text and confirming the action. This way, they don't have to go through the trouble of creating and finding shortcuts places on the desktop, quick launch area, system tray, or any other parts of the computer. This little gem is capable of integrating the .exe file of any specified tool in the Windows Registry, in order to launch it from the Start -> Run menu by typing its name. It can be seamlessly used by those who don't know how to work with Registry Editor.
Key Features:
- Integrates .exe files in Windows Registry
- Launch programs from the Run dialog
- Supports both installed and portable applications
- Minimal CPU and RAM usage
At startup, you're welcomed by the classical file browser dialog that invites you to locate the .exe file of any program, in order to create a new entry for it in the Windows registry. This works not only for installed applications but also for portable versions. The task is instantly performed, after which you receive a confirmation message in the center of the screen. In the following step, you can open the Windows Run tool and type the name of the executable file to launch it.
Technical Specifications:
- Price: FREE
- Publisher: Alexander M. Batishchev
- Requires .NET Framework
- Single executable file
The entire utility is packed in a single executable file that can be saved anywhere on the disk or stored on a removable storage device, in order to directly run it on any computer. However, you must have .NET Framework installed since it was developed with the aid of this platform. It worked smoothly in our tests, without triggering the operating system to hang, crash, or indicate errors. Too bad that Reg2Run doesn't also implement an option for deleting the registry entry of a previously added program, in case you change your mind.
