RdpGuard is a handy tool designed to keep your server safe from unwanted access. If you see repeated failed login attempts from the same IP address, it might mean someone is trying to guess your password. That’s where RdpGuard steps in to act as a protective layer for your server.
This application constantly watches over the event log. If it spots too many connection attempts from the same source, it will immediately block that IP address. This way, your remote desktops are shielded against brute-force attacks, making it much tougher for anyone to break in.
RdpGuard operates as a Windows service. This means that even if nobody is logged in, the protection stays active. When combined with the Windows firewall, RdpGuard creates an effective barrier against intrusions.
You get to decide how many failed logon attempts trigger an IP block and how long an address stays on the blacklist (the default is 24 hours). Plus, you can set up exceptions for trusted addresses so they won't be blocked no matter what.
There are two ways to block unwanted access: you can either use the Windows firewall or specific IP security policies. All blocked IPs are neatly displayed in the main window along with dates showing when they’ll be removed from the ban list.
RdpGuard helps prevent unauthorized access and breaches by keeping a close eye on server logs. It can spot potential attacks and automatically block harmful IP addresses before they compromise any data on your server. You can check out more about RdpGuard here!
