RadiusCat is a handy software for RADIUS billing that's made just for Quintum Tenor VoIP switches. If you're looking to manage your billing processes easily, this might be the perfect fit for you!
So, RADIUS stands for Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service. It's basically a protocol that helps keep things secure by allowing clients to access resources on remote servers. This protocol follows industry standards (RFCs 2865 and 2866) and deals with authentication, authorization, and accounting services.
The way it works is pretty simple. A RADIUS client, like your dial-up server or Quintum device, sends user info to the RADIUS server. Then, the server checks if everything's in order and sends back a response.
RadiusCat can handle an unlimited number of requests from Quintum VoIP devices! When the Quintum Tenor sends out an Access-Request packet to the RadiusCat Server, it checks if that caller has permission to access its services.
If everything looks good based on your account setup on RadiusCat, it will send back either an Access-Accept or Access-Reject packet. If it's a reject, the caller might get disconnected or asked to try entering their info again. But if it's accepted, they can connect right away!
Once a call ends successfully, the Quintum device sends an Accounting-Request packet back to RadiusCat. This updates the caller's account with all billing info—super easy!
