Description
Quick Service
File Explorer is the default method of handling file operations. However, keeping multiple instances active might make your workspace a bit too crowded. On the other hand, there are various third-party applications like Quick Service you can use to browse through files and folders in a single instance, but on multiple panes.
Key Features:
- No setup required
- USB flash drive compatibility
- Registry entries remain intact
- Dual-pane explorer for file and folder management
- Drag and drop file copying
Specifications:
- Price: FREE
- Publisher: Kazi Shawkat Hyder
- Multiple active instances
- Cluttered user interface
- Difficult navigation method
The main window of Quick Service puts all controls in plain sight to minimize management effort. However, the overall design feels a little rough around the edges, even though functions and other elements aren’t difficult to identify or use. Multiple instances of the application can be active at a time, but you can’t move files in between.
Management of files and folders is done through a dual-pane explorer, one representing the source, while the other the destination of all operations. It can be a little tricky to move around through folders because of the plain layout and no quick links to popular computer locations except a list of drives.
Folders are shown in a tree list, while containing files in separate panes. Copying can easily be done through drag and drop, with the possibility to move instead. Users also have the option to delete a file or launch it directly. Some additional links allow access to the calculator, Notepad, paint, or the audio player.
All things considered, Quick Service comes with good intentions, but is rather cluttered and provides a difficult navigation method. Users may have a hard time identifying files of interest, and the implemented operations don’t really help with advanced tasks.
