Quick Assist

Product Description

Remote utilities can be powerful tools when used by the right users, but that doesn't make them any less accessible. Tools like such can be used in a variety of circumstances, and perhaps among the most popular ones is providing support to a less-experienced user.

By now, most users should already be familiar with a few of the available offerings. Microsoft is eager to join in by providing a solution that comes preinstalled on Windows 10 and 11 machines: designed to be a simple program through which one can remotely control a host computer, Quick Assist is a piece of software that's worth looking into.

If you're using a Windows 10 and 11 machine, and have it updated to the latest version, it's likely that you already have this tool installed. Even if you do not, a quick search on the Microsoft Store should provide you with a download link to the program.

If you're the host computer, you'll have to supply your security code to the guest, so that they will be able to connect. Even if you mistakenly send the key, you'll have to approve the connection first before having anyone connect to your computer.

It's worth noting that remote control is disabled by default. As such, upon joining, the guest won't be able to make any changes to your computer. By way of the Laser Pointer and Pen tools, the guest will be able to guide the host along. An in-app chat is also available, which allows users to chat with one another.

Guests who wish to be more hands-on when it comes to remote connections can do so through the Remote control function. Once the request is approved by the host computer, the guest should be able to take control. If anything off happens during the session, the host should be able to pause or abort the connection entirely.

Quick Assist is a solution from Microsoft to help users who are looking for a remote connection utility. It can be used by anyone, and the controls it provides for remote connections should be sufficient for most uses.
