Description

Let's say you want to edit some PDFs really fast, what do you do? Most obviously, hop online, perform a quick Google search, and presto, you're presented with everything maybe hundreds of free and easy-to-use online PDF editors.

While most tools of this sort are very good, they might not be perfect for someone who's looking for, let's say, a quick way to batch-process PDFs, or for someone who wants to do it fully offline.

The point is that even in today's world, there's still a place for local, fully offline PDF tools. Qpdf Tools is one example of a fully offline PDF toolkit.

Right off the bat, it's worth noting that there's nothing (and I really mean that) impressive about Qpdf Tools, both in terms of features and looks.

There are, however, a few advantages. Qpdf Tools is completely free, open-source, and, as mentioned before, fully offline. So what exactly is Qpdf Tools? It's a Qt-based app that uses the power of both Ghostscript and QPDF.

For those who are not familiar with Ghostscript is an interpreter for the Postscript language and PDF files (basically a suite of software). QPDF is a powerful command-line tool and C++ library designed for content-preserving transformations on PDF files, in short, a low-level PDF command-line-based PDF editor.

With the help of this small app, you can perform one of four actions: compress PDF files, merge multiple PDF files, split PDF files, and rotate PDF files. That's it.

As mentioned before, it's not what one might call impressive. Still, it's a Linux-only, free and open-source app that works perfectly. Might be worth considering if you're not a stickler about how an app looks, especially considering that most apps of this sort are usually full of ads (maybe not on Linux, but still).
