Proxomitron is a lightweight and flexible application that acts as a powerful HTTP web filtering proxy. It’s designed to make your browsing experience better by allowing you to filter online content and even rewrite web pages from scratch.

Simple User Interface

The interface is really straightforward and user-friendly. You can easily edit the existing filter rules and see which ones are active. Plus, if you want to save your current settings, you can do that too! Just load your saved configuration file later, so you won’t have to change filters over and over again.

How It Works

To get Proxomitron up and running, you'll need to tweak your browser's proxy settings a bit. Once you do that, any connections made by the browser will go through Proxomitron first for filtering.

Pre-Configured Filters

This software comes with a bunch of pre-set rules that help filter web page content effectively. You can freeze GIF animations, swap out banners, limit banner text, or even block JavaScript banners. If you're tired of seeing images on certain websites, you can remove them too!

More Filtering Options

There’s even more you can do! You can change or remove the background of web pages, filter sounds, block pesky pop-ups, disable JavaScript altogether, and suppress those annoying JavaScript errors.

Edit Filters Easily

The application also lets you edit HTTP header filters. This means you can enable or disable web page encoding, manage cache settings, control the content type displayed on pages, automatically kill cookies, authorize proxy connections, and change the user agent (like Lynx or Opera).

Create Custom Filters

If none of the existing filters suit your needs perfectly, don’t worry! You can create new filter rules from scratch using Proxomitron’s built-in editor.

Monitor Activities

You’ll love how easy it is to track what Proxomitron does! The ongoing activity along with any changes made by a filter are logged in the HTTP message log window while the page remains open.
