ProFind is an awesome tool for finding files on your Mac. You can simply open the Spotlight app and type part of the file's name. But if you want something more powerful, ProFind is here to help!
This macOS app is super user-friendly and packed with features that make searching for files a breeze. With ProFind, you get support for metadata index-based searches and natural language queries, plus kernel-based searching whenever it's available.
One of the best things about ProFind is its minimalist design that feels a lot like Spotlight. This keeps everything simple and fast while you're looking for what you need.
You can change where you're searching right away using the “Search Location” drop-down menu in the top right corner. This lets you jump between local drives, remote servers, or even your Mac's backup drive to find files you've deleted recently.
Need to narrow down your search? No problem! Just hit the “Add Criteria” menu in the top right corner to filter by file size, creation date, modification date, and more.
By default, ProFind helps you find files by part of their name. But guess what? You can also look through text contents using the : content keyword! For metadata searches, just use : metadata or : md, followed by your search term. Want to find specific authors? Use : author.
If you're an advanced user, you'll love that ProFind supports regular expression searches and scripting capabilities. These features give you extra power when crafting your search queries!
