How Privacy Guard Works

This handy tool uses a quick algorithm for secure deletion and checks your Mac’s system for anything that could put your privacy at risk. To get started, just select your Mac’s Home Folder or choose specific folders you want to scan.

Identifying Privacy Threats

Once the scan is complete, Privacy Guard will show you a list of apps that might be causing privacy issues along with how much junk is hiding in each of them. From there, you can either toggle switches to keep or delete files from specific apps. If you're curious, click the info button next to each app for a detailed rundown of which files need to go.

Selecting File Types

You’re not just stuck with the default options! You can pick exactly which file types (like cache, cookies, downloads, forms, history, recent searches, and more) you want to keep or delete from any app on the list.

Starting the Cleanup Process

After making your choices about what stays and what goes, just hit the “Continue” button to kick off the scanning process. Just a heads-up: even though it’s user-friendly and does its job well, the deletion process isn’t lightning-fast. Expect it to take over 5 minutes if you're cleaning up around 1 GB of junk data.
